Assistant Principal - Safeguarding Lead Officer
Hello, My name is Sharon Wills.
With a qualification in Early Years - Child Care and Education, coupled with 36 years of experience in the field of education, I am a self-motivated, dedicated and highly professional Early Years educator with extensive experience providing a holistic education for children in Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage. I have specialised in the foundation stage years for most of my career. I have worked in the UK, Europe the Middle East the Far East and Africa.
I began working in 1983 in a Profoundly Special Needs School in the UK, once married I went to live and work in Hong Kong teaching at one of the University Pre Schools. Here my family grew and I have four amazing children. Over the years I have developed my career from Teaching Assistant to Teacher to Head of Department and now Assistant Principal. This, of course, could never have been done alone, as I have worked as part of some amazing teams of teaching staff, folk that have come from all over the world. My pleasure is to be part of many diverse cultures, taking part in community traditional events and customs.
Living life as a Global Citizen has enabled me to see different ways of teaching and learning and it has inspired me to share with others in educational establishments.
I am highly proactive, a strong people manager with an ability to motivate teams and individuals to perform consistently at their highest level, with a continued focus on delivering organisational objectives, whilst working in a safe and controlled manner within British Early Years Foundation Stage and operational policies and procedures.
I am looking forward to this new and exciting challenge at Winchester school, as part of a forward-thinking organisation that will recognise international experience and management skills. I have reached a stage in my career where I feel I am best now sharing my teaching knowledge and experiences with other teachers in Key Stage 1 and Early Years, to provide the best learning environment for our children.
I believe all children have a right to develop a love of learning, to be happy and safe in their school environment and to be guided to find their own pathway, to know that deep within their hearts and mind no matter what life throws at them they will be confident and they will succeed in our big wide world.
