Alicia Ramsay
Acting Assistant Head (Student Experience & Culture) - Secondary
My name is Alicia Ramsay and I have been part of the GEMS Winchester School Dubai community since August 2023. One of the things I value most about being part of the GEMS family is the commitment to developing and investing in its people. I joined WSD as Director of Teaching and Learning and have since progressed to the role of Assistant Headteacher for Student Experience, Culture and People, while continuing to oversee the French department.
I studied Languages and Linguistics at the University of York before completing my PGCE at the University of Cumbria. Languages have always been an important part of my career, but my passion for education extends beyond the classroom. I am also a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Leader and strongly believe in giving students opportunities to develop their confidence, resilience and independence alongside their academic learning.
At the heart of my leadership is a belief that every student should be given the best possible opportunity to progress and succeed. This means creating a positive school culture where students feel known, supported and encouraged to aim high, while also ensuring that teachers have the support, development and confidence they need to make a real difference in the classroom.
I am particularly passionate about building strong relationships across the school community and creating an environment where both students and staff feel that they belong. For me, student experience is shaped not only by what happens in lessons, but by the wider opportunities, relationships and culture that surround them every day.
Being part of the WSD community is something I am extremely proud of, and I am excited to continue contributing to its development as we work together to provide an excellent experience for every student.
