Leena Atkins
Head of Secondary
Originally from Manchester, I have been living and working in Dubai for nearly 15 years, and my family and I are proud to call the UAE our home. I joined The Winchester School, Dubai in August 2022, and it has been a privilege to work alongside the talented and dedicated educators who continue to shape the school’s strong reputation.
I hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University. I began my professional journey as a Design Engineer in the oil and gas sector before transitioning into education. I completed my teacher training in Secondary Mathematics at the University of Manchester and have since dedicated nearly 20 years to teaching and leadership across both the UK and Dubai.
My educational leadership experience spans four Key Stages, with roles including Head of Mathematics, Head of Sixth Form, Head of Middle School, and most recently, Head of Senior School. In 2019, I pursued further studies and was awarded a Master’s in Educational Leadership with distinction from Middlesex University Dubai. I have also completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), further strengthening my commitment to impactful school leadership. Additionally, I served as an Expert Examiner for GCSE Mathematics with the UK’s largest awarding body.
I believe that great teachers leave a lasting legacy. We remember the ones who inspired us, believed in us, and made learning meaningful. As educators, we play a vital role in shaping the futures of the young people in our care. I look forward to continuing to support and collaborate with our secondary school teachers and leaders to ensure that our students leave Winchester School with confidence, purpose, and fond memories of their time with us.
